House moves in Boothtown
Boothtown is north of Halifax town centre, on and off the A629, about a mile and a half from 16 Albion Court, Halifax HX1 1YN. It is the way out toward Ovenden, Illingworth and Shibden. Terraces and semis line the main road and the streets behind it. Akroyd Park and Akroyd Library, at Bankfield on Boothtown Road, are the landmark. The library shares the Bankfield site. If you are giving directions, "near Akroyd" is clearer than "on the main road", because the main road is long. The A629 is busy. A removal van stopped on it is in the way of through traffic. We use side streets where we can. Those side streets are terraces with doors on the pavement and cars on both sides. A gap the size of a car is not a gap the size of a Luton. Tell us if the house is directly on the main road. We will plan the stop, the cones if we need them, and the carry. Shibden Park is a short trip east, on Godley Lane. It is not in the middle of Boothtown, but it is the large park people use, and match-day is not the issue here so much as commuter traffic. Housing is mixed. A terrace can be a straightforward stair. A semi set above the road can mean steps before you reach the path. Flats appear in converted houses. Say the floor. Offices are less common than in the town centre, but a small workplace still needs an office quote rather than a house quote. Beechwood Medical Centre lists Boothtown inside the area it describes, from its site on Keighley Road. That does not guarantee you can register. Check. Postcodes are HX3. Calderdale Council covers tax and bins. The Halifax recycling centre at Lee Bank is close, on Ovenden Road, which is useful and also means waste lorries use the same roads. There is no station in Boothtown. Halifax station is back in the centre. Insurance is provided. Ask us what is covered when you book. Call 01422747860 if your door is on the A629. We would rather know that first.
