House moves in Sowerby Bridge
Sowerby Bridge is a mill town in the Calder valley, about three miles west of our base at 16 Albion Court, Halifax HX1 1YN. The centre sits by the River Calder, the Rochdale Canal and the station. Hills rise on both sides, so the same postcode contains a flat by the water and a house you reach by a steep side road. That split is the whole planning problem. A van that is fine on Wharf Street is not fine on a lane that narrows to one car. Terraces are stone, often with a door on the pavement and a yard at the back. Mills and newer flats have appeared near the water. Offices and workshops sit in converted buildings. If you are moving desks, say so. It is a different job from a house. The station on Station Road is a genuine local station, with a car park, which helps commuters and also means station roads are busy when trains meet school traffic. Tuel Lane is another tight point. Tell us if your street is used as a cut-through. Allan Park is the town park on the council's lists. The library on Hollins Mill Lane is the public library, easier to find than a side-street address. The household waste site is at Milner Royd, Mearclough Road. It does not take the same list of rubble as the Halifax site, so check Calderdale's page before you arrive with plasterboard. We do not take your waste in the removal van. Postcodes are HX6. Calderdale Council is the council, the same as Halifax. People sometimes talk as if Sowerby Bridge were a separate borough. It is not. Bins, tax and schools all run through Calderdale. Luddenden Foot is the next village up the valley. Elland is not the neighbouring street. It is a different valley road. Insurance is provided. Ask us what is covered when you book. Call 01422747860 with both addresses and a note if the door is up a flight from a narrow lane.

Moving in Sowerby Bridge: common questions
Is Sowerby Bridge still a Calderdale move?
Yes. Same council as Halifax. The distance from Albion Court is about three miles.
Can you get a van down a steep side street?
Sometimes. If the lane is too tight we stop lower and carry. A photo decides it before the day.
Do you move workshops as well as houses?
Yes. A workshop or shop is a commercial move. Desks and files are an office move. Tell us which you have.
