Brighouse is a larger Calderdale town to the south-east, about five miles from 16 Albion Court, Halifax HX1 1YN. It has its own centre, a station, a park that has just been through flood works, and postcodes in HD6 rather than HX. That postcode catches people out. You are still in Calderdale for council tax, bins and schools. You are not in a different county. The move from Halifax is local in our terms, and it is long enough that we want both addresses, not a guess. The centre is canal, river and streets that flood in the news more often than Halifax does. Wellholme Park, on Bradford Road, has been rebuilt as part of flood alleviation. Calderdale's page describes it as reopened, with play, tennis and a path by Clifton Beck. It is a landmark north-east of the centre, a short walk from the middle of town. The station is on Railway Street. Northern lists a car park. If you commute, that station is the practical one, not Halifax, once you live here. Housing runs from stone terraces near the centre to semis and newer estates toward Hipperholme, Rastrick and Hove Edge. Rastrick is across the river and has its own library. We will still move you there as a Brighouse-side job if that is the address, but say Rastrick if that is the street, because the bridge and the one-way system change the van route. Shops and small offices in the centre need a stop that does not block a bus. Tell us the hours you can load. The household waste site is Atlas Mill on Atlas Mill Road, HD6 1ES. It is not open every weekday. Check the Calderdale table. There has been a re-use shop on that site. The council has said it was closed for inspection after flooding, so do not promise yourself a visit without reading the page. Vans need a permit if they are over the height barrier.
