House and flat moves in Siddal

Siddal is the hillside south-east of Halifax town centre, above the valley and below Southowram, about a mile and a half from 16 Albion Court, Halifax HX1 1YN. Terraces are the pattern: stone houses, some split into flats, with doors up a step or a flight from the pavement. Oxford Lane is a name that appears on local surgery and allotment listings, so it is a useful pin, but the area is more than one road. Siddal Recreation Ground is the green space Calderdale names. Stoney Royd Cemetery is nearby and is a landmark on the way up, not a place to unload. The hill is short and sharp. From the town you climb, and the streets level off in places before climbing again. A van can often get onto the wider roads and then has to stop short of a narrow terrace. That carry, repeated for beds and appliances, is what takes the time. Tell us the floor if the house is a flat. A top-floor flat in a terrace is a different job from a whole house with a yard. Backings and ginnels are for bins. We will not drive down them. Parking is resident cars plus the slope. If you can keep a space, it helps, and if you cannot, say so. We would rather plan a stop around the corner than arrive and block a junction. School times add parked cars. Early starts work well here. Postcodes are HX3. A few people still think of Siddal as an HX1 edge because it looks down on the centre. Use the code on your documents. Calderdale Council covers tax and bins. The Shay and Skircoat are across the valley side of town, not next door. Southowram is the village further up Bank. Do not book them as the same address. Insurance is provided. Ask us what is covered when you book. Call 01422747860 with the street and the floor. Siddal is close to our base, and the stairs are still the work.

Moving in Siddal: common questions

Is Siddal close enough to walk to town?

Many streets are a walk down and a climb back. The van still has to deal with the hill and the terrace.

Are most moves houses or flats?

Both. Terraces are often whole houses. Some are split. Tell us which, and which floor.

What is the postcode?

HX3 for the Siddal streets we mean. Send the full code so we do not plan an HX1 street by mistake.
