Flat and apartment moves in Halifax Town Centre

Halifax town centre is a compact stone town set in a steep bowl, and our base at 16 Albion Court, Halifax HX1 1YN is already in that bowl. A move here is a short hop, often a walk, rather than a drive out to the villages. The Piece Hall, Woolshops and the streets around the Borough Market are the landmarks people use when they describe an address. Housing is mostly flats over shops, rooms in older commercial buildings, and a smaller number of purpose-built apartments. Whole houses are the exception. The job is usually stairs, a lift if there is one, and a legal place for the van. Wade Street bus station is the main bus point, with access from Northgate, Winding Road and Wade Street. Halifax railway station is on Horton Street. On a moving morning those two hubs, plus shop deliveries, decide whether we can stop outside or need a carry from a side street. Tell us the floor, whether the lift is a goods lift or a small passenger lift, and any rule from a managing agent about mats or quiet hours. Streets rise quickly once you leave the valley floor. A sofa that fitted the living room can still stick on a half landing in a Victorian conversion. Bays are short. Event days around the Piece Hall change which roads feel busy. If you are leaving a flat above a shop, we need the shop opening time so the doorway is not blocked at the wrong hour. Postcodes in the centre are mostly HX1. Calderdale Council handles council tax and bins. The Shay, home of FC Halifax Town, is south of the centre on Skircoat Road, and a match day can slow the roads toward Savile Park. Offices above the shops are an office move. A whole house with its own front door is a house move, even if the other end is only a mile away. We plan the carry before the day. Photos of the stairs and the street are enough. Keys and fobs stay with you, not in a box. Insurance is provided. Ask us what is covered when you book. If completion slips, call 01422747860 rather than leaving a van with nowhere to unload.

Flats, shops and short stops

Town centre moves are mostly flats and apartments: rooms over retail, converted upper floors, and newer blocks a short walk from the Piece Hall. Our flat removals crew asks about the lift, the stair and the door widths before the day.

Halifax railway station is on Horton Street and the bus station is on Wade Street. If your entrance faces that area, say so. Offices above the shops belong on office removals. A shop unit is commercial removals.

Savile Park and King Cross are close enough that some people move within a mile of Albion Court. Call 01422747860 or ask for a written quote.

Can you move a flat above a shop in the centre?

Yes. Tell us the floor, whether there is a lift, and when the shop needs the doorway clear.

Where can the van stop near the bus station?

Wade Street, Winding Road and Northgate are busy. We agree a stop before the day rather than arriving and hoping.

Are town centre postcodes all HX1?

Most centre addresses are HX1. If your street is on the edge, check the postcode on the solicitor's paperwork and send us that.
