Mixenden is the outer edge of north-west Halifax, past Illingworth, with the reservoir and the moor beyond the houses. From 16 Albion Court, Halifax HX1 1YN it is about three and a half miles. That is still a local move, but it is not a five-minute unload. The roads in are estate roads off Mixenden Road. They were not designed for two large vans to pass a row of parked cars, so we ask where the turning point is before we arrive. Housing is mostly later family houses and flats in low blocks, not Victorian through-terraces. Stairs are often shorter. Parking is the constraint: one space outside, or none, and a bend that looks wide until you try to stop a Luton there. Clough Lane recreation ground is named by Calderdale as a local open space. The library on Mixenden Road is the community landmark we use for directions, next to the shops. Tell us if you are on the far side of the estate, because "by the library" and "by the reservoir" are different carries. People move here as whole households. Bedrooms, a shed, and sometimes a house that has been occupied for a long time with more in it than the room count suggests. Be honest about volume. A three-bed with every cupboard full takes longer than an empty-looking three-bed. If you are leaving items, do not put them on our van and ask us to dump them. Household waste needs a permit at a Calderdale site. Postcodes are HX2. NHS lists Mixenden Stones Surgery, part of Caritas Group Practice, on Mixenden Road. One NHS page has placed the address wording at Boothtown and another local page uses a slightly different postcode on the same road. Use the NHS page and check it. We are not going to invent a phone to settle that. Calderdale Council is the council. Illingworth library is an alternative if Mixenden library is on a closed day.
