House moves in Luddenden Foot
Luddenden Foot, often written Luddendenfoot, is a village in the Calder valley west of Sowerby Bridge, about four miles from 16 Albion Court, Halifax HX1 1YN. The A646 runs through it beside the river and the canal. Stone terraces face the main road. Side streets climb the valley side in a hurry. That is the whole access problem in one sentence: the front may be on a busy road, and the back may be up a flight you cannot see from the driver's seat. There was a station here once. There is not one you can use now. Sowerby Bridge station, a short trip east, is the railhead. Do not plan a moving morning around a train from the village. Buses use the main road. If we stop on that road we are in the way of valley traffic, so we prefer a side street or a marked gap. Tell us if the terrace has no gap at all. A carry along the pavement is fine if we know the length of it. Holmes Park is the park Calderdale names in Luddendenfoot. Clegg Nook Memorial Gardens are listed too. Use Holmes as the green space, not as a van park. Houses are stone, often two or three storeys, with cellars in some and yards behind. A washing machine in a back kitchen still has to come through the front if there is no rear access for people carrying. Say which. Hills behind the main road have cottages with longer drives or no drive. Photos help more than a bedroom count. If you are moving to Sowerby Bridge or into Halifax, it is still a local job. If you are leaving Calderdale for a longer journey inside the UK, that needs both addresses spelled out. Postcodes here are HX2. Sowerby Bridge itself is HX6, so the boundary is real and it is nearby. Send the code on the paperwork. Calderdale Council covers the village for tax and bins. The Milner Royd recycling centre at Sowerby Bridge is the nearest site, with limits on rubble. Insurance is provided. Ask us what is covered when you book. Call 01422747860 if the only stop is on the A646. We will say whether that stop is workable.
